Compensation Specialist or Specialist Senior- Human Resources
Position Number: 401074 Pay Range: Specialist (Min: $53,314 /Max: $90,100) Specialist, Sr (Min: $61,717 / Max: $104,302) Location: Colorado Springs, CO Posting Close Date: 11/30/09 Please note: All postings will close at 12:00pm on the Posting Close Date. RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: This position is in the Compensation and Performance Management unit of the Rewards Section of the Human Resources Department and is responsible for a variety of skilled compensation activities in support of the organization's compensation programs. Key functions will include: •Conducting comprehensive job reviews and market pricing for determining market value •Consulting with managers and supervisors to develop pay strategies and communicate survey results •Leading projects related to the compensation and performance management functions •Partnering with the HRIS analyst to manage the compensation functions for the Lawson HRIS system •Developing annual merit program recommendations •Participating in the development of the annual salary and benefits budget for Colorado Springs Utilities •Managing the completion and review of external salary surveys •Drafting and updating job descriptions REQUIREMENTS: •Must be able to compile and review data, interpret information, draw conclusions and apply various statistical methodologies •Must be to access and analyze data using a variety of software applications (MS Excel, Word, Access, Lawson HRIS, etc) and use compensation principles, theory and practices to make recommendations to organization leaders and team members. •Must demonstrate skill in conducting salary surveys, the ability to develop automated solutions to business needs using multiple, integrated systems and the ability to design, develop and produce complex reports. •Must be adept with labor costing and forecasting techniques •Ability to present information clearly, logically and effectively, both orally and in writing RELEVANT BACKGROUND: •Most people in this occupation will have a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a closely-related field - three (3) years of experience in Human Resources - two (2) years specializing in compensation - Certified Compensation Professional certification is an asset - PHR or SPHR certification preferred.
