(June 11, 2010) – The finalists for the 2010 Best Companies to Work for in Colorado have been announced.  ** The complete list of finalists (in alphabetical order) is at the end of this release. **

The rankings for the 2010 Best Companies to Work for in Colorado will be announced at an awards luncheon on Friday, July 30, 2010, at the Omni Interlocken Resort, Broomfield, CO.  This year’s awards gala will be emceed by Gregg Moss.  Event tickets and corporate tables can be purchased at www.coshrm.org.

There will also be a morning workshop, The Business of Being Great.  Rich Boyer of ModernThink, the program’s survey provider, will provide insight on how Colorado employers are treating their employees, especially in these difficult economic times. He will also provide longitudinal data from the past five years of the program. His presentation will be followed by Brag, Borrow & Brainstorm, featuring this year’s finalists discussing the value this program has brought to their organization and what makes them stand apart as being a Best Company to Work for in Colorado

This Best Companies to Work for in Colorado initiative was designed to:

  • honor companies in Colorado that show dedication to their employees’ growth and quality of life;
  • develop definitive information to help existing companies in Colorado retain their workforce;
  • promote Colorado’s best employment opportunities to attract new workers; and
  • distinguish businesses in Colorado that attract and retain Colorado’s talented workforce.

The competition recognizes participants in three different categories in Colorado:  small companies (25-99 employees), medium companies (100-250 employees) and large companies (250 employees or more).  Ranking companies were evaluated and chosen by the ModernThink, and their participation will lead to long-term benefits for Colorado.

To be eligible for consideration, companies must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a for-profit or not-for-profit business
  • Be a publicly or privately held business
  • Have a facility in the state of Colorado
  • Have a minimum of 25 employees in the state of Colorado

This is the fifth year of the awards program, which is offered statewide in Colorado, and modeled after Fortune Magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work for in America,” and other statewide Best Places to Work programs administered in other states.

Best Companies to Work for in Colorado is a collaborative effort among its many partners, which include Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Colorado State Council, Boulder Area Human Resource Association, Colorado Springs Society of Human Resource Management, Northern Colorado Human Resource Association, High Country Human Resource Association, Western Colorado Human Resource Association, Jobing.com, ColoradoBiz Magazine, and ModernThink, LLC.

ModernThink, LLC conducted an assessment of participating companies that was a two-part process designed to gather detailed data about each company. In part one, the employer completes a questionnaire and in part two, employees of the company complete an employee survey.

The survey data was then combined to enable the experts at ModernThink, LLC to determine the strengths and opportunities of the participating companies.  The companies were then ranked based on this data.   ModernThink, LLC also created Assessment Findings Reports that are returned to each participating company. General comparisons of a company’s data to the rest of the field are also included.  The information companies received will be almost as valuable as finding themselves on the final list.

Listings of the finalists from both the medium-sized and large-sized companies, arranged alphabetically, are included with this release.  Company ranking in each category will be announced at the July 30, 2010 award luncheon.
