POSITION SUMMARY
Produces quality CT scans in an efficient and professional manner for use by physicians in diagnostic and treatment of pathologies

POSITION DUTIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
PATIENT CARE
* Performs CT procedures, providing safety for self, patients and all other individuals to include Radiation Safety.
* Prepares for and assists the radiologist in all interventional procedures done in the CT department and is knowledgeable for the special needs, i.e., catheters, etc. for these procedures.
* Prepares patient for exams: gives instruction to patient regarding the procedure; assists the patient during exam and positions the patient.
* Observes patient and equipment during the procedure and reports / documents unusual occurrences and record patient's conditions.
* Transports patients to and from medical imaging.
* Communicates in writing and verbally, with all physicians, Imaging personnel, students and hospital staff in facilitating the continuum care.
* As assigned by management, performs technologist duties of other ARRT certified modality.
* Works under pressure due to high volume of trauma and critically ill patients, and has good judgment as to the priority of each patient.
* Performs IV starts and contrast administration as required.
SERVICE
* Proactive in problem identification and following up with appropriate management personnel.
* Prepares room, equipment and exam materials needed for exam.
* Maintains technical operation of equipment, notifies service when necessary, notifies supervisor of equipment problems, and logs the service calls and problems in the problem log.
* Maintains a clean work area for employees and patients.
* Maintains supplies in Medical Imaging rooms as needed.
* Works at front desk and file room, performing clerical and other related duties as required.
* Obtains quality studies from difficult patients.
* Administers positive emotional support to patients under adverse conditions.
* Establishes a motivation, constructive rapport with physicians, staff and system departments.
* As required, floats to other facilities within the Centura Healthcare system.
DATA ENTRY
* Correctly inputs charges and required data for procedures and for supplies utilized during the procedure.
* Completes medical imaging paperwork for each exam performed.
STAFF EDUCATION
* Maintains high skill level through ongoing education / meeting attendance and shares learning with staff.
* Participates in clinical training for students and / or staff technologists.

Skills / Requirements

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
* Three years diagnostic and / or other prior hospital experience or equivalent in education

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
* Graduate of approved accredited program in Radiologic Technology

* ARRT registered (R) (CT)
