Translates clinical documentation from the medical record into diagnostic and procedural codes for the purpose of hospital reimbursement and the maintenance of an accurate database. Abstracted medical information will be for the purpose of reimbursement, planning, data analysis and research. Position will be responsible for processing mail, including electronic formats, telephone coverage and other clerical tasks in support of the coding department.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
* High School Diploma;
* Prefer RHIT or RHIA or CCS or completion of Coding Certificate program and demonstrated technical competence in coding with ICD-9-CM and CPT.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
* 1 year previous coding experience in an acute care institution.
* Must demonstrate competencies with basic computer skills including windows applications and e-mail.
