GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB: Assistant is responsible for managing the workflow of outside studies for the Sub Specialty Radiologists and for assisting other Radiologists as needed. Answers the phone, retrieves and sends images, locates and acquires prior exams, faxes reports or other paperwork, and follows up on any unread studies. Ultimate responsibility is to assist the Radiologists with providing good patient care by managing the workflow so that the Radiologist is able to deliver timely reports to the referring facilities.

JOB DUTIES: The following description of duties and standards is intended to reflect the major responsibilities of the job on a general basis. Other duties may be assigned or added to meet the business needs of DRC.

GENERAL:

Contributes to the achievement of excellence in healthcare through the quality and caring values of the philosophy of Diversified Radiology of Colorado.
Demonstrates courteous behavior thorough polite and respectful communication with all co-workers, patients, physicians, and customers.

Contributes to the time management of the department by being punctual to work and on assignments. Provides proper notification of absences or tardiness.
Demonstrates cost effectiveness in the use of supplies and equipment as indicated by minimal wastage of supplies.
Maximizes job potential by attending all mandatory education and in-service programs.
Actively participates in departmental meetings to ensure that goals and objectives are achieved.
Keeps supervisor advised of any concerns, situations or changes that occur within the scope of the job.
Has a good working knowledge of regulations regarding fire and safety, disaster plans, and emergency policies and procedures at all times.
Maintains the confidentiality of patient records and information to assure that patient rights are protected at all times.
Complies with all policies and procedures, including those in the DRC Employee Handbook.
Ensures that all assigned duties are carried out within the appropriate amount of time.
Participates in the training and orientation of new employees.
Uses all channels of communication to address inter-departmental concerns, solve problems, and address conflicts.

SPECIFICS: Essential duties include providing, supervising, and coordinating the following:

Daily multi-system monitoring in conjunction with image transfer, requisitions and report turnaround between the hospitals and DRC.
Quality control and performance monitoring.
Study monitoring, and patient information management.
Liaison with DRC, and facilities with whom DRC has a working relationship.
Operational trouble-shooting and problem solving.
Liaison with DRC Security Officer to monitor and enforce data security policies.
Coordinate data flow with DRC Radiologists.
Provide proactive technical administration, planning, coordination, documentation and management reporting for the system.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal business and support units and management.
Group peers - participate actively in discussing common issues.
External Vendors - remaining current with technology trends, determining the value propositions and global support capabilities.
Conferences - attendance at industry seminars to help in maintaining awareness of emerging developments.

Skills / Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS: These job requirements must be satisfied with our without reasonable accommodation.

EDUCATION: Prefer a minimum of an Associates degree or equivalent experience in Radiology or other healthcare.

EXPERIENCE:

Experience with MS Windows, NT, 2000, or XP.
Working knowledge of network principles and Radiology terminology.
Experience troubleshooting IT systems and issues in a healthcare environment.
Ability to analyze multiple levels of information required for quality business decision, draw conclusions and formulate actionable recommendations.
Experience working with Radiology section chiefs, department heads, or clinical mangers and technologists preferred.
Effective and well-developed planning, analytical, communications, technical, and decision-making skills.

SKILLS: Highly motivated with great organizational skills. Excellent oral and written skills to facilitate in communication with medical and technical personnel. Ability to deal efficiently and courteously with all medical and technical personnel in a fast paced, multitasking environment. Ability to deal efficiently and courteously with all clinical personnel and patients, and to establish effective working relationships.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Moderate amount of lifting, reaching and bending. Walking and standing some of the time. Office environment 90%. See objects closely and with good vision. Hear normal sounds with some background noises. Demonstrate ability to apply analytical skills and draw conclusions based on data gathered and concentrate on moderate detail with constant interruption. Demonstrate ability to understand and relate to specific ideas general, several at a time and remember multiple tasks over long periods of time. Good written communication skills.

ENVIRNMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: May be exposed to negligible electromagnetic radiation as in CRT screens.
