Summary of Position: Ensures radiology reports are coded accurately and timely, and also, ensures that quality audits for Coding staff and Radiologists are performed. Oversees all aspects of new hire and on-going training. Monitors daily team workflow to ensure critical deadlines are met. Works with radiologists and technologists regarding documentation. Acts as a resource for coding questions from billing office staff and physicians. Assists in identifying and resolving coding issues. Works closely with ALIFE (advanced computerized coding and coder management software).
Job Responsibilities: • Oversees work flow of coding staff to ensure radiology reports are coded accurately and timely and meet necessary deadlines. • Ensures quality audits are conducted according to office guidelines. • Acquires contacts with our INVISION/RIA/IVLC/RIN sites to improve open communication regarding site/report/dictation issues. • Ensures training is conducted for new hires, and also, on-going training for coders. • Troubleshoot with peers regarding coding and insurance issues. • Works with fluoro-techs and radiologists on coding and report issues. • Works closely with ALIFE to ensure software is used in the most efficient manner possible. • Develops departmental policies and procedures. Supervisory Responsibilities: • Responsible for effective selection, orientation, training, mentoring and performance management of coding staff. • Evaluates staff performance and responsible for performance management. • Supervises all staff in Coding Department. Experience/Skill Requirements: • Three years supervisory experience – preferably in radiology coding environment. • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet programs. • PC and 10 key proficient. • Extensive knowledge of CPT, ICD-9, HCPCS. E & M and Interventional coding knowledge preferred. • Comfortable in high production environment. • Must have excellent phone etiquette. • Must have excellent customer service skills and team work ethic. Education Requirements: • High school diploma or equivalent • CPC certification preferred • RCC certification preferred Radiology Imaging Associates Preview
