Jobing Description
We are in need of a Staff Accountant to work in our Finance Department located in Thornton, CO. The Staff Accountant is responsible for accounting and record keeping of Community Reach Center and its related subsidiaries. The position is responsible for financial reporting and analysis to improve the operational and financial effectiveness of the Center, and is expected to independently perform technical accounting work and to exercise initiative in determining tasks to be done and effective work methods and timetables.


Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Records activity for general accounts, including those with reconciliation responsibility. Applies working knowledge of GAAP and mental health rules/regulations. Identifies and addresses accounting issues as they arise.
  • Utilizes knowledge of financial accounting systems and internal control processes. Develops and implements changes in accounting systems and procedures for continuous improvement.
  • Prepares financial reporting package for internal management and Board in timely manner, including but not limited to balance sheet, statement of operations, cash flow statement and operating statistics.
  • Identifies and makes recommendations on financial issues.
  • Reconciles accounts, including analysis of activity. Follows up on and resolves reconciling items.
  • Ensures integrity of bank account transactions.
  • Utilizes fixed asset software to track activity. Ensures integrity of perpetual records to physical asset.
  • Works with miscellaneous receivables, including contracts and grants.
  • Participates in annual budget process and rent reconciliation process. Works closely with property manager.
  • Works with prepaids, insurance and other.
  • Ensures compliance with provisions of grants and contracts relating to financial matters. Reports financial status of temporarily restricted contributions. Advises management on issues as they arise.
  • Administers petty cash program. Ensures procedures are followed and petty cash levels are appropriate and necessary.
  • Prepares schedules and working papers for the annual audit.


Skills / Requirements
Requirements:
  • 2-4 years of experience in accounting operations, including general ledger and financial reporting software applications.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (or directly related field).
  • Demonstrated experience reconciling ledger account.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills; ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Project management skills.
  • Experience working with confidential information.
