Summary: Preparing desserts and specialty items according to the menu and Pastry Chef in large and small quantities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • Maintain quality products • Clean and maintain station. Assures that proper sanitation procedures are followed • Full knowledge of the operation of all kitchen equipment including cleaning and maintenance procedures • Assures adequate amounts of food products are on hand • May be required to work other kitchen stations such as pantry, etc. • Close kitchen at the end of the shift • Consult with pastry chef on special functions or specialty items Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience: High School diploma and ACF Apprenticeship or culinary school graduate; five years experience in a full service pastry shop required. Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
