MorningStar Senior Living of Littleton seeks a knowledgeable, experienced, responsible Sous Chef. Wonderful assisted living and memory care community, medical, dental, sick and vacation pay, 401k benefits. Rate of pay based on prior experience. Pre-placement physical and drug screen required.

Summary of Position: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the kitchen staff, Production and food service needs of the residents and their guests. Must understand how to read and re-scale recipes for the appropriate amount of residents, staff and guests. Requires good interpersonal skills with a working knowledge of all kitchen equipment including; slicer, food processors, mixers, ovens, steamers etc.
Must demonstrate a working knowledge of proper sanitation procedures, cooking techniques, and monitoring of staff, especially during the Executive Chefs absence.

Experience:

Minimum of two years supervisory experience in kitchens with an emphasis on scratch cooking of proper stocks, soups, vegetables, desserts and entrees.

Other requirements:

Responsible for maintaining kitchen cleanliness and quality standards as set by Morningstar and the Executive Chef. Qualified candidates must also have excellent knife skills, and the ability to train others as needed. Will also assist in receiving, proper storage of, and the rotation of food.

Must work to ensure and maintain a pleasant work environment for the kitchen staff, care staff and other internal customers. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, recipes, operating and maintenance instructions. Ability to effectively communicate in English and understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
