Overview:
Banner Health, one of the largest Healthcare Providers has an opportunity for an IT Physician Senior Consultant to be a part of the Information Technology Team and assist in the automating of the NextGen Electronic Medical Record System. This position will be located in the Western Region, CO.

Travel requirements: This position will require out-of-state travel for Banner system and team meetings, planning sessions, project meetings, and keeping in touch with regional/facility needs and concerns.

Responsibilities:
The position works as a key physician leader in the analysis, design, development and implementation of enterprise clinical information systems. Position is responsible for implementation of medical informatics type projects (i.e. Computerized Physician Order Entry, EMR adoption), providing guidance on functional, architectural and integration requirements to successfully deploy projects of strategic importance at a system wide level. Provides subject matter expertise to assist with integration of related processes (i.e. physician workflow) necessary to achieve successful adoption of new technologies. This position will proactively serve as a liaison to internal and external clinicians, including physicians, nurses, pharmacists and ancillary staff to effectively execute assigned projects. The position is responsible for providing on-going technical and clinical expertise, in line with Banner Health's values and goals, to assure the consistent delivery of high quality information technology, communications services and care improvement efforts by a highly qualified, trained, and committed professional staff.

Physician with a bachelor's degree in computer science or the equivalent experience.

Three years of progressive experience in Information Technology, informatics and/or direct clinical care. Technical Skills: Working knowledge of contemporary mainframe, minicomputer, microcomputer, telecommunications, and network strategies, environments, equipment, operating systems, development tools and methodologies. Good general knowledge of personal computer environments and the ability to use a wide variety of data and information in productive ways. The position will access, manipulate, organize, and communicate information in meaningful ways to audiences at many levels of the corporation through oral presentations, and using word processing, e-mail, and presentation software. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with direct patient care as a licensed U.S. physician within an acute care community hospital setting and/or ambulatory practice. Personal experience using CPOE and EMR systems; ideally Cerner Millennium and/or NextGen. Direct Information Technology management experience in a large healthcare environment is strongly preferred along with a proven track record of success.
