Job: Cytology Processor - Gyn/Non-Gyn

APP-UniPath LLC is the largest Pathology Practice in the Rocky Mountain Region, with 25 pathologist physicians and supporting histotechnologists, cytotechnologists, management, and other personnel. Our staff provides laboratory and pathology services to hospitals, clinics, doctor's offices, laboratories, and other facilities along the Front Range of Colorado and beyond.

We are currently recruiting for a Cytology Processor - Gyn/Non-Gyn in the Cytology Accessioning & Processing Department to process Gyn and Non-Gyn Cytology specimens. This is a full-time position, 2nd Shift, Monday-Friday. Flexible scheduling may be required.

Responsibilities:

Accession and process Gyn and Non-Gyn specimens per procedure manual guidelines.

Slide filing, retrieval, send out and consults according to procedure.

Maintain working knowledge of all technical equipment used in the processing of all samples.

Knowledge of partial and complete breakdown (cleaning and maintenance) of all staining equipment per protocol.

Assists in maintaining adequate inventory of consumable supplies, and notifies supervisor of anticipated shortages.

Help prepare for accreditation inspections.

Maintain a safe, clean work environment at all times (including equipment, supply stock, files, records, and counters, etc.) according to standards established by the supervisor, safety officer, and manager.

Other duties as assigned.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Post secondary education in the science field preferred.

Requirements:

Experience in a medical laboratory preferred but not required.

Knowledge of handling bio-hazardous materials – will receive appropriate on-the-job training.

Skill in communicating and collaboration both orally and in writing.

Skill in effectively working with all levels of the organization.

Ability to effectively problem solve issues.

Ability to work independently or in small or large groups.

Ability to maintain the necessary levels of confidentiality to protect client’s privacy and proprietary organizational information.

Ability to sustain normal exposure to common laboratory environment, tolerate facemask, and tolerate germicidal soaps and solutions.

Requires visual acuity, normal color perception, finger dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
