Brown Brothers ContractingSUMMARY: Performs repairs and maintenance on and off road equipment, CDL trucks, and non-CDL trucks, compactor, skid steers, rollers, pavers, small engine equipment, and light duty equipment to maximize safe and productive operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:The following responsibilities are general duties that a particular employee in this position may or may not be required to perform. The actual duties required of this position will vary.
Diagnoses mechanical problems.
Perform major and minor engine repairs, hydraulic repairs, and troubleshooting repairs.
Performs repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment to maximize safe and productive operations. Typical repairs include, but are not limited to, routine maintenance and repair hydraulic systems, brake systems, transmissions, electrical systems, engines and compactors.
Reads and interprets VCR's (vehicle condition reports) and/or repair orders, communicates with supervisor and/or equipment operators for clarification of problems and discusses preventive techniques with equipment users and vehicle drivers to minimize future repairs.
Completes paperwork associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage and accounts for applied times (work order times versus time card times)
Fabrication and welding repairs
Track repairs by vendors, maintain shop supplies, and housekeeping of shop and tools.
Computer skills needed to input work orders and other required information to maintenance system.
Follows all safety policies and procedures.
Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Use handtools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists.
Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition.
Perform periodic preventative maintenance of equipment and machinery such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
Adjust and reline brakes, align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment. Mount and dismount wheels and tires.
Raise trucks, off road equipment and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists.
Test drive trucks and off road equipment to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly.
Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges.
Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices.
Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications.
Specialize in repairing and maintaining parts of the engine, such as fuel injection systems.
Attach test instruments to equipment, and read dials and gauges to diagnose malfunctions.
Rewire ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels.
Recondition and replace parts, pistons, bearings, gears, and valves.
Repair and adjust seats, doors, and windows, and install and repair accessories.
Inspect, repair, and maintain automotive and mechanical equipment and machinery such as pumps and compressors.
Disassemble and overhaul internal combustion engines, pumps, generators, transmissions, clutches, and differential units.
Rebuild gas or diesel engines.
Align front ends and suspension systems.
Use PPE (Personnel Protective Equipment).Skills / Requirements
Maintain accurate record keeping of service repairs on individual units according to DOT regulations or manufacturers specifications.
Maintain daily report of all services performed. This function requires heavy attention to detail and accuracy.
Must be able to interact with all levels of management.
Must be a Teamplayer.
Must be willing to train others and work flexible hours.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION:
Required:
Equivalent of high school diploma or G.E.D certification and 1 years of related maintenance and repair OR 4 years of related equipment maintenance and repair.
Valid driver license (Commercial Drivers License)
Preferred: Mechanical or trade school certificate. Welding and/or fabrication skills and /or experience.
REPRESENTATIVE MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENTS AND/OR SOFTWARE USED:
The following machines, tools equipment and/or software are commonly, but not always, associated with the performance of this position. Actual machines, tools, equipment and/or software used will vary.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, dusk mask, earplugs, gloves, hardhat, safety glasses, work boots, and safety vest.
Hand tools including, but not limited to, hammer, screwdriver and wrenches.
Vehicles including, but not limited to, bobcat, forklift, pickup truck.
Machines including, but not limited to, drill press, floor jacks, grinders, and welders.
ENVIRONMENTAL/ATMOSPHERIC WORKING CONDITIONS:
The following environmental/atmospheric working conditions are commonly, but not always, associated with the performance of this position. The actual working conditions will vary.
Shop environment including, but not limited to, machines, tools, heavy equipment, chemicals, solvents, dust and fumes.
Exposure to residential and commercial waste
