POSITION SUMMARY
To provide quality patient care to all patients within the medical imaging department. To perform high quality radiographs and exams on patients while maintaining the sensitivity to patient needs. Follows standards of safe radiation practice.
POSITION DUTIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
* Performs diagnostic radiology procedures, providing safety for self, patients and all other individuals to include radiation safety.
* Prepares patient for exams; gives instructions to patients regarding procedures; assists the patient during the exam and positions the patient.
* Explains the procedure to patients and responds to their physical and emotional needs.
* Observes patient and equipment during the procedure and reports/documents unusual occurrences and records patient's conditions.
* Transports patients to and from medical imaging.
* Produces and develops quality radiographs in a complete, accurate and timely manner.
* Properly processes images, uses x-ray cassettes and calculates exposure techniques using the departmental technique policies/guidelines.
* Assists radiologists, staff physicians and fluoro technologists during exams if required.
* Communicates, in writing and verbally, with all physicians, imaging personnel, students and hospital staff in facilitating the continuum care.
* As assigned by management, performs technologist duties of other ARRT certified modality.
* Facilitates smooth patient flow, scheduling and optimal use of equipment/resources.
* Administration of contrast as required.
* Performs IV starts as required.
* Prepares room, equipment and exam materials needed for exams.
* Maintains technical operation of equipment, notifies service when necessary, notifies supervisor of equipment problems and logs the service calls and problems into the problem log.
* Maintains a clean work area for employees and patients.
* Maintains supplies in Medical Imaging rooms as needed.
* Correctly inputs charges and required data for procedures and for supplies utilized during the procedure.
* Completes medical imaging paperwork fore each exam performed.
* Proactive in problem identification and following up with appropriate management personnel.
* Maintains a high skill level through ongoing education/meeting attendance and shares learning with staff.
* Assists imaging personnel in maintaining radiographic technique charts.
* Participates in clinical training for students and/or staff technologists.
* Works at front desk and file room, performing clerical and other related duties as required.
* Obtains quality studies from difficult patients.
* Administers positive emotional support to patients under adverse reactions conditions.
* Establishes a motivating, constructive report with physicians, staff and system departments.
* As required, floats to other facilities within the Centura Healthcare system.
* Rotates charge duties as required.
* Performs other duties as required.

Skills / Requirements
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
* Graduate of approved accredited program in Radiologic Technology
LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS
* ARRT registered or Registry Eligible (registered within 1 year of hire)
* Basic Life Support (BLS)

* Knowledgeable in all aspects of Diagnostic Imaging to include Surgery and Trauma, if required.
