ACDHS uses an integrated Two-Generation (2Gen) approach to address all of the basic human services needs of the entire family unit. The 2Gen approach begins with a mindset focused on family-centered program design, continues with the alignment of services and resources within the department as well as across multiple organizations, resulting in coordinated services to children and adults together (family) in order to create long term stability and sustainability.

ACDHS has an opening for a Social Caseworker Associate - Temporary position working with vulnerable and at risk adults for the Child and Adult Protection Services (CAPS) Division. The Child and Adult Protection Services Division provides protective services to children and teens, vulnerable and at risk adults, as well as foster care, adoption, adolescent services, teen parent programs and other services that help create strong, effective families.

The Social Caseworker Associate is responsible for providing support to Caseworkers B and C while gaining skills and knowledge to successfully attain certification to manage cases in a trainee role.

The expectation for a Social Caseworker Associate is to have acquired the skills and knowledge needed to successfully apply for a Social Caseworker B position. 

The temporary employee will work variable hours up to 29 hours a week.

Duties

Assists with conducting assessments of safety and risk for vulnerable and at risk adults.

Assists with identifying appropriate and available services for vulnerable and at risk adults and providing crisis response and documenting case plan information and activity.

Assists with information gathering as it pertains to active assessments or cases on behalf of a vulnerable and at risk adult. This includes gathering and consolidating historical and background information.

Assists in making collateral contacts with community resources such as law enforcement and medical personnel to obtain additional information, coordinate services, or secure their assistance.

Attends court hearings and/or staffing meetings with mental health facilities, adult protection review teams, and other professionals involved with the vulnerable and at risk adult with the primary Caseworker.

Provides a variety of ancillary assignments as needed including preparing and maintaining client records, completing required forms and reports, and entering data and some case contacts into Trails or CAPS.

Successfully complete the Training Academy and ACES, at which time can be assigned as a primary caseworker of up to five active assessments in a "trainee" role.

Requirements

EDUCATION:

Bachelors's degree in one of the human behavioral science fields*.

* Accepted Human Behavioral Science degrees are defined as: Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling and/or Child Development.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be able to successfully complete the appropriate Colorado Pre-Service Training Academy program during the first year of employment with ACDHS.

The expectation for a Social Caseworker Associate is to have acquired the skills and knowledge needed to successfully apply for a Social Caseworker B position. 

Supplemental Information

This is a non-benefited position.

The temporary employee will work variable hours up to 29 hours a week.

Must pass a criminal pre-employment background and motor vehicle check and a post-employment fingerprint check.

Reliable transportation is required as you will be utilizing your own personal vehicle for visiting families' homes, transporting children, and attending court.  You will be reimbursed for mileage.

The salary grade listed is the full salary range for the Social Caseworker Associate Temporary - Adult Protection Services position. Please note that the hiring salary will typically be near the lower end of the pay range listed.
