Job Title: Principal – Aspen Community School  

                                  Woody Creek, Colorado

 

The Aspen Community School (ACS) is seeking applications for an experienced and innovative leader to serve as the School Principal for the upcoming school year. Candidates should have experience as an educator and leader in an elementary/secondary school setting.

The Aspen Community School is a public charter school in Woody Creek, Colorado serving 135 students. Our highly respected and award winning school provides a balanced curriculum that incorporates intentional community values, individual character development, and strong academic skills woven into project-based learning opportunities and intentional field experiences. Aspen Community School is one of two K-8  public charter schools of Compass sharing the Mission of fostering lifelong learning and empowering individuals to take responsibility for themselves, their learning and their community. The ideal candidate will work with the community to promote the mission of Compass and to collaboratively develop the vision and strategic initiatives to support a coherent culture of lifelong learners.  The candidate will share the following cornerstones of with our community:

  • Ability to translate education research and neuroscience findings into actionable strategies for the community.  
  • Able to design, facilitate and support effective professional development.

  • Able to synthesize and use data in the decision making process
  • Able to create and support effective systems and structures in support of strategic objectives for learning

  • Skilled at recognizing, supporting, and promoting student and teacher leadership.
  • Ability to problem solve complex issues within and among teams.
  • Skilled in the use of group facilitation as a leadership strategy.
  • Ability to effectively monitor peers and teachers to assure accountability of mutually shared values, practices, and decisions.
  • Ability to navigate and monitor current data and curriculum management systems.
  • Well organized and effective task management skills that enable the majority of work time to be applied to instructional leadership and evaluation

 Start Date:  August 1, 2019

 

 Salary:  ACS offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with education and experience.  

 

 Requirements: This position is open until filled and requires the ability to obtain and maintain an appropriate license   through Colorado Department of Education for the position of School Principal.
