Position Summary & Objective
The Engineering Manager assists the Chief Engineer in the leadership, planning, organization, and direction for the Engineering Department. This is an operational manager position which will include some maintenance engineer job duties.
Essential Functions of the Job
Assist the Chief Engineer with management of the Engineering department and vendor operations.
Assist with scheduling, coaching, reviews & training for the engineering department.
Ensure all compliance standards are met; maintain Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), including Global Harmonized System for chemicals (GHS), regulations.
Responsible for purchasing and inventory
Ensure all work orders are tracked/completed/prioritized.
Act as the Property manager/Chief Engineer as required in the Chief Engineer’s absence.
Respond to and complete all general maintenance requests as needed, to include all areas inside and outside of the hotel & related properties.
Provide supervision and direction of engineering technicians; perform safety inspections.
Identify process improvements and best practices;
To oversee property management; This can include owner relationships, property walks, budget preparation and daily maintenance needs.
Ensures that all guest requests and room calls are addressed timely
Address safety hazards and report suspicious persons or activities to management.
Adhere to all safety standards set by the Chief Engineer, the hotel, city and state ordinances.
Maintain all tools in a clean and orderly condition.
Be available for emergency calls and be able to respond adequately.
Set up and execute preventative maintenance programs.
Maintain a clear, uncluttered work area.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Indoors v Outdoors - Indoors 95% of the time, Outdoors 5% of the time.
Standing v Sitting - Standing 90% of the time.
Work Environment -. Working as part of a team; working AM, PM & overnight shifts. Working holidays. Overtime may be required due to business need
Constant reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing and seeing (near, far, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision). Frequent climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching. Occasional tasting, smelling. Dealing with noise of plant machinery.
Ability to push, pull or otherwise carry objects of up to 50lbs unassisted.
Ability to perform duties in extreme temperature ranges.
Education, License/Certifications & Skills
High School diploma or equivalent required
BA/BS degree preferred
Licensed/certified Pool & Spa operator.
Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, painting, and carpentry
Mechanical aptitude for operation and repair of property equipment.
Visual ability to identify items needing repair or maintenance.
Ability to multi task and prioritize; Ability to think logically.
Competent with computer programs such as Microsoft Office.
Knowledgeable use of general Engineering tools and equipment
Knowledgeable and experience with elevators
Knowledgeable in/of EPA Certification.
Knowledgeable in ADA requirements.
Knowledgeable of power, water and sewer distribution.
Working understanding and ability to read blue prints.
Knowledgeable of fire codes and fire protection.
Demonstrate analytical ability to grasp numbers and understand their impact
Excellent written and spoken English.
Three years’ experience in any combination of the building trades, or hotel engineering
Two to five years of supervisory or management responsibility
Three or more years in mechanical fields such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing
