3N has 2 distinct certifications, Total Joint Certified, and Stroke Certified, and we work collaboratively with PT/OT and S/T while caring for both ortho and neuro patients. We are not limited  to ortho/neuro, we also care for trauma, med surg, and telemetry patients, and many of the staff enjoy the variety of patients and diagnosis. Our patient population consists of patients in every age group over the age of 15.
3N is a very busy unit and team work is essential, any many of the staff thrive in this environment. Many affectionately call this Fun North!

Performs duties and tasks that assist the caregivers and promote effective departmental functioning.  Direct patient care functions are under the direction of the RN.


Education or Formal Training
High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Special Qualifications (Licensure, Registration, etc.)

Effective 4/1/15 CNA certification or equivalent certification is required.  Equivalent certifications include: EMT, MA, Military Medic or completion of 1st year of nursing core classes (not prerequisites for nursing school).  PCAs hired prior to 4/1/15 will be grandfathered in and will not be required to complete CNA certification.

BLS certification required within conditional period.

Knowledge, Skill and Ability

Basic knowledge of asepsis and universal precautions
Basic knowledge of frequently used medical terminologies
Physical and mental stamina to perform job duties
Able to take directions from multiple staff and demonstrate the ability to set priorities

Hospital or other health care experience preferred
