Burns & McDonnell is an employee-owned firm and considered a leading consultant in the refined product terminals and hydrocarbon process industry. We have been and are engaged in terminal projects both large and small nationwide. We execute projects for major oil companies and other industrial clients, including pipeline terminals and truck, ship, and rail loading facilities.
Successful candidate would be experienced in design and construction in the oil & gas field. Experience in crude and refined product terminals and/or pipelines facilities, potentially including:
Familiarity with relevant industry standards including API 650, NFPA 30, PIP CVC01015 and STC01015
Site layout design incorporating applicable setbacks, spacing and containment requirements
Creation of site development design packages including site plans, utility plans, grading plans, erosion & sediment control plans, surfacing plans, and roadway plans and profiles
Design of foundations for mechanical and electrical equipment as well as pipe racks and cable tray supports
Design of structural steel for pipe bridges, pipe racks and cable tray supports
Typical projects will include, but are not limited to, green-field / retrofit, design-bid-build, Engineer-Procure, or EPC Projects for storage and point of sale terminals, pipeline origination stations, pipeline valve stations, pipeline booster & compressor stations. Most projects will require frequent interaction with clients, acting as their trusted technical engineering and construction advisor, and development of safe, creative and cost-effective solutions to meet their sensitive budget and time constraints.
Candidate should be self-driven leader capable of spearheading the execution of complex assignments requiring the use of advanced techniques, resulting in the development of new or improved processes, equipment and/or technological methods. May develop and evaluate plans for major projects. May coordinate departmental or divisional project studies, reports or project design assignments. Progressive design and project management responsibilities. Regularly meets and corresponds with clients or outside personnel. Other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities will include: Preparation of drawings, specifications, reports and studies. Perform site layout design, site grading design, containment design, water resource calculations including hydrology and stormwater attenuation, foundation design, and structural steel design. Coordinate with permitting agencies and public utilities. Apply sound civil and structural engineering principles to design, troubleshoot and solve client related challenges. Assist field personnel in resolving unanticipated site conditions.
Professional Engineer (P.E.) is preferred with experience with other consulting firms and/or construction contractors. Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field from accredited program. Minimum 3 years related experience. Excellent written & verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. This position requires an individual capable of applying intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments. Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered. Working knowledge of design software (AutoCAD Civil3D, RISA3D) is preferred.
