Job Description

Cheyenne Village, Inc., a local 501(c)(3), the largest and oldest provider of residential services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Colorado Springs is seeking qualified applicants for a Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

The CEO is responsible for the leadership and management of the organization. The CEO identifies operating goals and strategic plans in conjunction with the Board of Directors and works to achieve these goals within the framework of the policies, procedures, mission, and vision established by the Board of Directors. The CEO, in collaboration with the Leadership team, Staff, and Board of Directors, is responsible for building and maintaining trust in Cheyenne Village and its relevance in our community. The CEO functions at a high level of business and management skills with particular grace in building and leveraging community relationships to grow resources and financial support for Cheyenne Village. The CEO reports directly to and works in close partnership with the Board of Directors to enable the board to fulfill its governance function.

Overall organizational leadership and management including the following: 

As Chairperson of the Leadership Team, CEO serves as a positive community advocate both for the Cheyenne Village organization as well as for the industry.  CEO serves as primary point of contact for key funders and government/non-government agencies. Establishes and maintains professional relationships with leaders of organizations in the nonprofit sector and agencies that serve individuals with developmental disabilities. Responsible for monitoring trends within governmental programs and within care services and proactively identifying and responding to issues and opportunities that may affect the agency.

Establishes and maintains sound operating policies and procedures to include oversight of human resources management to ensure compliance with the guidelines of regulatory agencies. Develops recommendations for organizational structure and compensation policies.

Supervises Leadership Team, Directors and Managers, in accordance to the organizational chart and monitors team members providing feedback and support through regular evaluations including action steps as needed to maintain high-performing staff to implement organizational mission.   

Maintains sound fiscal policies including establishing and adhering to an annual budget and supporting consistent financial reporting including monthly financial reports for Board review as well as facilitating an annual financial audit.  Responsible for overseeing fundraising planning and implementation, including developing a fundraising budget and researching funding sources.

Serves as primary interface with Board of Directors for communications regarding Cheyenne Village operations, issues and policies, providing support to Board committees including facilitating strategic planning, board recruitment and development and fundraising/public relations activities of the Board.

Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management or related field. Master’s degree preferred. Five years’ experience in management/supervisory position in a nonprofit or public agency. Experience working with a board of directors desirable. Working knowledge of nonprofit fiscal management. Demonstrated ability in public speaking, clear and effective written and oral communication required. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Maintains acceptable criminal background, MVR, DORA and CAPS checks. Maintain valid US driver's license.
