HOURLY RATE: $10.50 - 12.00 per hour (based on relevant experience)

SUMMARY

Provides support in the areas of facility for aquatic functions and ice maintenance production, program, and event preparation. Under the close supervision of the Ice Rink Operation/Maintenance, this position is responsible for the safe operation of the arena’s Ice Resurfacer and to maintain the ice surfaces to ensure that the facility is safe and enjoyable for all users. Sets-up and dismantles equipment, tables, chairs, audio visual equipment, in the facility. May assist clients and full-time staff as needed. In addition, performs custodial responsibilities throughout the facility as required to maintain facility appearance, service to public and operational status. May assist technicians or perform supporting roles for event and general maintenance for the aquatic areas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties and responsibilities and illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all-inclusive.

Functions as a member of a program and facility attendant team and works with that team to provide specific activities, resources, and services to the public.

Sets-up and dismantles equipment throughout the facility.

Maintains equipment and supplies, facilitates repairs, and maintains inventory.

Is responsible for all the needs of the programs and activities while on duty.

Coordinates with the Facility Maintenance Technicians and/or Facility Manager to provide a well-maintained and clean facility.

Provides custodial services throughout the facility as needed and reports any deficiencies to supervisor.

Monitors and secures the facility as needed.

Shovels snow and maintains sidewalks and patio as, needed.

Responsible for opening and closing the facility.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is not responsible for the supervision of employees.


QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the necessary functions of this position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Occasionally works independently without direct supervision. Establishes and maintains effective working relationship with co-workers, participants and the public. Communicates effectively in both oral and written form with external and internal customers. Sensitivity in dealing with all age groups, persons with disabilities, and a diverse population. Basic computer knowledge and ability to operate a variety of office equipment. Understands and applies department procedures and policies. Handles sensitive or stressful situations with tact and diplomacy.

Ability to use kitchen equipment, carpet vacuum, snow blower, hammer, screw drivers, ladders, paint equipment and various hand tools, standard office equipment including copiers, computers, audio visual equipment, and motor vehicles.

The facility has a dynamic and changing event and activity schedule. Flexibility in ones ability to work varying shifts is desirable, particularly regarding weekend and holiday shift availability.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum age is 18. Customer service and custodial maintenance experience is helpful.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read instructions and communicate with City supervisor and the general public. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisor, groups of clients, customers, and the general public.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve and implement practical solutions to problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Foresee and initiate proactive measures to insure program quality, customer service and facility integrity.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Current Colorado driver's license is preferred. CPR and First Aid Certification required or capability of fulfilling certifications within 60 days.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Work will include the following: 1) regular standing and walking; 2) bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, jumping, twisting, balancing, climbing, kneeling, crouching, and reaching; physical activity required in building set-up, tear-down, custodial, and maintenance; 3) lifting and carrying 40 throughout a shift while performing various functions including setting up or cleaning up for various programs and events; 4) hand/eye coordination for operation of a computer keyboard; 5) foot-eye coordination for the operation of a motor vehicle; 6) vision to read written materials and understand direction; 7) speech and hearing capabilities to maintain communication with citizens and employees.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

Work is performed in several environments as follows: 1) standing and moving about while performing a variety of facility set-up and maintenance tasks; 2) an office or meeting setting that may involve extended periods of sitting; 3) bending, stooping, or kneeling while performing a variety of facility set-up and maintenance tasks; 4) working around loud equipment for extended periods of time; 5) working both indoors and outdoors.

The facility is open some holidays and is staffed on these days.
