- Nature of Work
The seasonal Park Ranger position is responsible for park regulation enforcement work, routine park maintenance, park patrol, and visitor safety at EB Rains Memorial Park. Must be willing and able to work a varied schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays. This position is allocated to Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services.
Hours are Mon - Fri with two days off, from 2:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Sat/Sun rotate between 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Season lasts May 15, 2018-Labor Day.
- Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain communications with staff and the public and address concerns from the public.
Explains park policies and regulations. Provides courteous, high quality customer service to the public to requests for service or appropriate referral.
Patrols to enforce rules and regulations, and to safeguard and preserve park facilities.Enforces cleanliness and sanitation standards
Walks through park to look for areas needing maintenance or repair.Monitors park usage by the public to enhance enjoyment and enforce standards of safety, civility and cleanliness.
Communicates closely with the Northglenn Police Department.Assist in preparing and monitoring park for pavilion rentals, skate park special events and other approved uses.
Ensure the proper permits have been issued for rentals.Work independently as well as with others.
Objectively handle a wide variety of public contact situations.Deal with emergency situations with prompt, calm, common sense action.
Demonstrate some knowledge of: general park practices and techniques.
- Education and Experience
Must be 18 years of age or older.
High school diploma or completion of GED
Colorado Driver's License, provide proof of safe driving record and maintain a safe driving record for continued employment
Experience or education in Parks, Recreation, Open Space, Natural Recreation areas, criminal justice or a related field.
College-level coursework in Parks, Recreation, Natural Resources, Criminal Justice or a related field.
Previous experience as a Park Ranger.
Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge and skills, may be considered.
- Supplemental Information
Must possess at time of appointment, and maintain, a valid Colorado motor vehicle operator's license and a good driving record.
CPR/1st aid certification required. Training is provided.
OC and radio training will be provided.
Selected candidate will be required to complete and pass a background investigation and drug/alcohol screen.
