PositionSummary: 

Thisposition is responsible for supporting the direction of the respiratory caredepartment.  Employee is sought out by othersfor advice, training, and clarification of job related knowledge. Effectively communicates,coordinates, delegates, makes assignments and manages the daily activities ofthe respiratory care department. Facilitates, organizes, and reviews the dailyworkflow to deliver maximal service to patients.  Prioritizes, motivates, and promotes qualitypatient care to support the Mission, Vision, and Values of Swedish MedicalCenter.  Ensures facility technical anddocumentation expectations are consistent with JCAHO regulations and SMCstandards.  Positively demonstratesconcern and consideration when interacting with patients, medical staff, andemployees.  Demonstrates independentcritical thinking skills for daily activity and patient flow of the respiratorycare department and assumes accountability for personal and team contributions.  Responsible for completing employee annualperformance evaluations, as directed, as well as system analysis,implementation and management of budgetary requirements. Covers patient carecaseloads as directed. Responsible and accountable for the full range of humanresource management of staff. These activities include, but are not limited to,recruitment and retention, orientation process, staff development andperformance enhancement, ensuring productivity, coaching and counseling staff,delegation of departmental work responsibilities and evaluation of staff.  Performs other duties as assigned by respiratorycare director. Position Requirements:

 

A.  Licensure/Certification/Registration:  

Current Colorado Respiratory License

       Current BLS certification - AHA

       Current ACLScertification - AHA

       Current PALScertification - AHA

RRT credential required

 

      

B.  Education:                                           

Bachelor's degreestrongly preferred

Graduate of AMA accredited RespiratoryTherapist Program

 

 

C.  Experience:  

Five years clinician experience preferred.  Three years supervisor experience preferred.

 

D.  Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

Expert knowledge of all respiratory careprinciples and procedures.  Employee mustbe able to handle a variety of responsibilities under pressure.  Must function independently and makeappropriate decisions.
