Description of Duties: Applications Engineer (Windows 2012/2016 Server with an emphasis on web and database technologies,) to provide for engineering, requirements development, design, implementation, operations, and maintenance for complex application systems. Design, develop, and implement web applications and scripts. Support for a variety of software platforms in an Active Directory environment utilizing MS SQL Server 2008/2014 and Internet Information Service (IIS) as well as other tools. Resolve software conflicts, install, configure, patch, update Windows 2012/2016 application software, troubleshoot and resolve client-server and web application issues. Install/configure IIS and web applications. Apply DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) for web servers and websites. Coordinate efforts with other Enterprise IT Services and vendor support personnel to resolve Incident Requests, Problems, and Change Requests. Manage COT, GOTS, and other developed software applications. Interact with customers to gather requirements and ensure applications meet expectations. Other duties will be assigned as required. Primary duty hours fall within the 0700-1700, Monday - Friday time period, but must be able to work after hours to support maintenance and to provide limited on-call support.
Desired: Experience implementing and managing complex application systems. Experience developing web applications using Visual Studio and .NET/C#. Experience developing scripts using PowerShell and Perl. Experience troubleshooting IIS web server 8.5/10 and database issues. Experience developing synthetic transactions for System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) to monitor and test applications. Experience with several of the following a plus: Windows Server 2012 R2 system administration; configuring/managing web sites/applications using IIS 8.5/10.0; SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS); BMC Remedy. Experience managing one or more of the following is a plus: Microsoft Identity Management (MIM) environments; Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS), Oracle Primavera, Oracle WebLogic, Empower, Simulyze Flight Control, and SharePoint. Familiarity with the Missile Defense Agency and BMDS programs. ITIL v3 Foundations certification. A Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) is a plus.
