Jefferson County Road and Bridge is currently hiring Road & Bridge Laborers. This position provides you the opportunity to work for a county that thrives on working collaboratively and overcoming challenges. We are seeking a game changer, someone that loves what they do and is motivated to share their knowledge with those that they work with.

We are looking for Laborers for the summer. This is a great opportunity for recent high school graduates or college students looking for summer work. This position requires no experience and has the potential to lead to regular full-time employment. This is a temporary position set to last through October at about 130 hours a month. As a Laborer for Road & Bridge, you will perform manual labor in the maintenance of County roads utilizing hand tools, rollers, and compactors. Maintenance duties vary by district and may include shoveling, raking, and sweeping asphalt, traffic control duties such as flagging and sign placement, culvert maintenance, and asphalt patching.

Essential Duties

Essential Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Working with the asphalt paving or asphalt patch crew
  • Flagging
  • Shoveling and raking, to include asphalt
  • Utilizing non-powered hand tools
  • General maintenance work of roads, rights-of-way, and culverts


Minimum Requirements:

  • Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency.
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License (including Learner's Permit) for 2 consecutive years prior to date of hire.
  • Must report to assigned shop within one hour of being called.

Additional Information

  • Offer of employment is contingent on passing a criminal history, Motor Vehicle Record check, drug screen and physical exam.
  • To be considered, you may not have had any major violations, nor DUI, DWI, and/or DWAI in the last 3 years.
  • Must provide a valid Driver's License and current copy of your full Motor Vehicle Record at the time of interview
