Under supervision, performs system security engineering and operations support of vulnerability management systems and host base security systems. Develops tactics, techniques and procedures using AF tools to improve the security posture of supported networks. Scans, tracks, records and reports vulnerabilities using government provided tools. Utilizes technical orders to perform assigned duties and make recommendations to improve standardized systems and their technical orders. Reports and uploads scan results to the DISA's Vulnerability Management System (VMS) tool, or its successor, on a monthly or as needed basis for Air Force Base's (AFB) to review and remediate. Performs trend analysis of vulnerability scan data to generate reports identifying the security posture of the base (i.e. deficiencies, history of repeats, etc.). Develops draft TOs, SOPs, checklists, guides, best practices and procedures for conducting vulnerability assessments. Automates procedures using scripts, Sequel (SQL)/database administration, or other available technology and reports monthly repeat high vulnerabilities to the communications unit. Plans, conducts and reports AF enterprise patch management, minimizing disruptions to operational customers. Validates compliance with AF security practices and responds to NetOps directives such as IAVAs, NOTAMs, TCNOs, TCTOs, CTOs, and MTOs. For certain requisitions oversees, the AFIN Reporting Cell ensures the acknowledgement and reporting of IAVA/B with the appropriate knowledge to address the unit's response. By requisition level of 8570 Certification and OEM/Industry, Certifications will be added to be in compliance with Appendix 6 percentages.
Administer, operate, manage, establish, configure, optimize, and monitor enterprise level applications and tools for monitoring management. Performs 24x7 monitoring management operations and maintenance services in support of the Air Force Information Networks (AFIN) operations from Langley AFB, VA. Works assigned shift (5 consecutive days, 8 hrs each, 40 hrs per week) and must be flexible to rotate to another shift if needed. Responsible for administering network monitoring capabilities using government-provided monitoring tools (Orion Solarwinds, Microsoft SCOM, NetIQ AppManager) on large classified and unclassified network enterprises. Assists the government with planning, setup, deployment, upgrade, maintenance and migration of network monitoring capabilities on large network enterprises. Provides technical expertise in troubleshooting alerts/incidents, resolving issues based on mission priorities and working with PMOs/vendors to obtain support as required. Supports the remediation of network vulnerabilities. Experience with Windows server systems administration, database management, general networking knowledge, basic understanding of Microsoft SQL and ability to troubleshoot/analyze data using information from multiple sources are required. Requires good technical, communications and collaboration skills. Requires good understanding of large-scale data center and network architectures, monitoring and fault management. Scripting experience with any language and specific experience administering EMC Smarts and NetIQ AppManager are preferred. Secret clearance and Security+ CE certification are required on Day 1. Other certifications preferred up front include MCSA Windows Server 2012, Solarwinds Certified Professional, and MCSA SQL Server 2012.
