Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Benefits Coordinator performs the administration of employee benefits across OmniTRAX and its managed affiliates.  Provides guidance and assistance to employees on various employee benefit plans.  Assists in the day-to-day administration of employee benefits, including invoicing and answering basic employee questions.

The Benefits Coordinator demonstrates and adheres to the company values of safety, honesty, ownership, respect and teamwork to ensure successful partnership with customers and employees that result in OmniTRAX’s continued success.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Advise employees on eligibility for and elections of benefits; monitor new employee enrollments
  • Process leaves of absence in conjunction with outsourced administrator, including: working with outsourced administrator, assisting with application process, answering questions, tracking, sending notices, coordinating return-to-work testing, collecting benefit premiums, and coordinating payroll and disability pay processing
  • Answer basic questions from employees on various benefit plans
  • Help employees navigate the online enrollment process and collect forms
  • Send benefits-related materials to employees’ homes and email addresses
  • Enroll employees with carriers when needed, and process life status changes
  • Maintain benefit records and documents necessary for implementing benefit coverage
  • Assist with maintaining employee benefit portal
  • Assist with audit of vendors enrollments and timely COBRA offerings
  • Edit hourly employees deduction start/stop dates inside HRIS database

OTHER DUTIES

  • Prepare and maintain basic reporting, as needed
  • Assist with coordinating the health fair and supporting department and companywide activities and events
  • Assist with open enrollment to include: coordination and scheduling of meetings and travel
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
  • 2 year HR experience
  • Demonstrate organizational skills, appropriate sense of urgency, high standard of accuracy, attention to detail and excellent follow-up skills
  • Handle highly sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and confidentiality
  • Strong problem solving and math skills
  • Self-starter, work autonomously to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with competing priorities under minimal supervision
  • Business acumen
  • Critical thinker to identify areas of improvement and make recommendations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; effectively converse with all levels of the company
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Professional integrity and accountability
  • Work in fast-paced, collaborative environment

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • 2 years of experience with benefits administration
  • Previous experience in Rail Transportation, Supply Chain Logistics, Manufacturing and/or Oil and Gas industries
  • Working knowledge of UltiPro software a plus
