Job Summary (Essential Functions)
The Training Specialist reports to the Director of Clinical Training Operations. The Training Specialist is responsible for supporting the team and the Instructional Designer with regards to the delivery and construction of training materials and overall involvement with operations. In addition, the Training Specialist will be responsible for supporting new and ongoing training projects, the development and testing of training materials, aiding in the development of processes and procedures in order to optimize usage of the electronic health record (EHR) and delivering training for new and existing employees. The Training Specialist will also work in conjunction with departments throughout the organization to ensure all staff are optimally trained on the EHR to include ongoing training, audits and verifying quality assurance standards are being met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Deliver individual and classroom oriented clinical trainings
- Work with subject matter experts and identify target audience’s training needs
- Occasional travel to various local clinics to provide on-site training support
- Work with external liaison(s) and clinical training team to identify and communicate enhancements surrounding the EHR
- Provide back-up support to the Training Project Coordinator surrounding the maintenance and coordination of documentation for the EHR support tickets
- Work with the team’s Instructional Designer to ensure training plans and training materials are developed appropriately
- Provide as needed support to new employee orientation and additional training
- Assist as needed with training design and content development
- Participation in various projects
- Monitoring class evaluations and assessments for the team
- Implementation and maintenance of standardization of process, via training and trainings documentation
- Other duties may be assigned
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Additional higher education preferred. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program, CNA or EMT program preferred.
Work Experience: Previous professional healthcare or social service experience required. Minimum of one year of training experience required. Project coordination and training content development experience preferred.
Cognitive Skills (Language, Math, Reasoning Ability):Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, business agreements, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret and implement a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills: Due to the administrative, coordination and clerical functions associated with this job, a thorough understanding of word processing, spreadsheet manipulation and processing and exceptional customer service are required.
Other Skills: Ability to flourish independently and in a team management system. Sensitivity to low income, ethnic and other minority communities. Excellent organizational, listening, de-escalation, tracking and documentation skills required.
Certificates & Licenses: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or EMT program preferred. A valid Driver’s License in good standing.
Frequent standing and walking, occasional long periods of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements, and frequent fine motor skills. Looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time, hearing within normal range. Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
