Job Description
The Shared Financial Services of PFG has an opportunity for a Staff Accountant, Level II.

Under the supervision of the Director of Accounting and Accounting Supervisor, this candidate will support accounting for PFG locations.  Perform month-end close activities, analyzing and verifying financial information, preparing internal financial reports.  Provide information to the field regarding accounting practices and procedures.  Reconcile and review general ledger accounts.  External contacts may include vendors, banks, internal and external auditors.  Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and performs any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Major Functional Responsibilities:
 
  1. Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts.
  2. Prepare detailed journal entries for month-end close
  3. Review financial statements to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  4. Research and investigate financial variances for monthly fluctuation analysis and SOX controls.
  5. Perform moderately complex accounting reconciliations and balance sheet trend analysis, as assigned.
  6. Prepare reports and make recommendations that aid management in determining the proper accounting of reserves, assets and expenditures.  Provide recommendations for process improvements.
  7. Ensure compliance with accounting and reporting deadlines.  Maintain and/or lead established projects as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance with 2-3 years experience. Thorough understanding and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Demonstrated oral/written communication, interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills
- Demonstrated computer and analytical skills
- Demonstrated ability to analyze financial information
- General ledger accounting system experience
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects/tasks in a changing environment
- Self-motivated with ability to work under and meet strict deadlines individually as well as in a team environment
- Knowledge and understanding of internal control environment
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a working knowledge of Microsoft Access
- Ability to work flexible hours as required
