Part Time Gymnastics Instructor, Goodson Recreation Center
at South Suburban Parks and Recreation
- Job Summary
We are searching for motivated, dependable and flexible instructors to teach at all levels of our gymnastics program. The gymnastics instructor is responsible for coaching and providing general leadership to the gymnastics program classes and special events. Two levels of instruction needed.
Parent-tot instructors lead classes that involve playing games, singing songs and demonstrating basic locomotor movements for toddlers and their parents. No gymnastics experience is necessary. Subsidized childcare available during class hours for those that qualify.
Recreational level instructors lead introductory-advance levels on all apparatus (vault, bars, beam and floor) with gymnasts ages 4-11 years old. Some gymnastics experience is preferred. Able to work a flexible schedule 3-6 hours per week.
Immediate openings during the following days/times:
M-F 9am - 2pm
M-F 2pm - 7:30pm
Saturdays 8am - 1pm
- Job Requirements
Must be at least 14 yrs with 1 year experience working with children 6 months -6 yrs. Must obtain CPR/AED certification within first 6 months of employment, and maintain certification thereafter. Must obtain HEADS UP Concussion certification within first 6 months of employment, and maintain certification thereafter.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must be competent in a variety of gymnastics skills progressions and spotting techniques at all levels of gymnastics as well as competent in the use of a variety of gymnastics equipment. Able to provide outstanding customer service and get along with coworkers, patrons, parents, and supervisors. Ability to demonstrate teamwork, creativity, innovation and leadership in performance of duties.
A combination of education and experience may be considered. The ability to successfully complete a background check including and not limited to criminal history check is required.
