  • Position Purpose:

    The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing and implementing safe and effective patient care in a clinic setting by assisting providers in examination and treatment of patients.

    Essential Functions and Basic Duties:

    Primary Duties

    o Maintains compliance with departmental, hospital and state and federal regulations and policies

    o Working knowledge of phone

    o Participates in mandatory in-services

    o Follows policy and procedures for infection control, safety, and risk management

    o Completes maintenance work orders appropriately

    o Participates in Disaster Drills, demonstrates knowledge of emergency preparedness

    o Respects the confidentiality of patient records, and uses complete discretion when discussing patient information

    o Utilizes all department forms appropriately

    o Able to identify victims and the process for reporting abuse

    o Able to apply National Patient Safety goals to care and documentation

    o Collect, label and transport all specimens appropriately

    o Demonstrates knowledge of routine equipment

    o Demonstrates proper techniques when setting up for procedures

    o Demonstrations knowledge of emergency equipment and procedures

    o Collaborates with patient care planning

    o Assumes leadership role as needed or assigned

    o Ability to gather resources within the hospital to provide adequate care

    o Active participation in education specific to patient diagnosis and need

    o Acts as a resource person to other staff members

    o Conducts/participates in Code Blue and other emergency codes.

    o Public relations: receive, greet, direct by phone or in person. Take messages.

    o Positive and supportive team member to staff members and the Hospital.

    o Participates in process improvement teams or in interdepartmental efforts.

    o Able to assess the geriatric patient for safety, medication dosage appropriateness.

    o Able to translate medications into pediatric doses and use proper equipment for patient's size and age.

    o Act as a liaison between patients, families, physicians and staff.

    o Complete workload as assigned.

    o Respects the confidentiality of patient records and uses complete discretion when discussion patient information.

    o Utilizes all department forms appropriately.

    o Assures patient charges are complete and accurate.

    o Accurately administers mediation, performs treatment in accordance of standards of care, signs out all narcotics and dispenses according to policy.

    o Assists physicians with special tests and procedures.

    o Demonstrates an ability to start IV and monitor IV fluids for correct rate.

    o Active participation in education specific to patient diagnosis and need.

    o Knowledge of paperwork for transferring of patients to other facilities.

    o Able to perform all clerical duties.

    o Accurate and concise intra- and interdepartmental reports.

    o Assures patient charges are complete and accurate

    o Knowledge/practice of correct CPT codes and diagnosis codes for adequate Superbill submission.

    o Performs other duties as assigned.

    o Attends staff meetings

    o Direct patient care. Implement and utilizes the Nursing Process, Assessment, Intervention, Evaluation, Discharge Planning, and Reassessment.

    Secondary Duties

    o Completes annual education, training, in-service, and certification requirements; attends departmental staff meetings or reads meeting minutes.

    o Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.

    o Actively participates in departmental and facility performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.

    o Strives to ensure continual compliance with departmental, hospital, state and federal regulations and policies.

    o Follows policies and procedures for infection control, safety, and risk management to ensure a safe environment for patients, public and staff.



    o High School Diploma or GED

    o Current valid driver's license

    o Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

    o Current Colorado RN license

    o Current BLS certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire)

    Knowledge Required: Experience Required:

    o One year acute care experience preferred.


    o General knowledge of all Microsoft Office products.
