Maintain and assist with applications and databases under the NextGen provisioning platform. Implement data protection, replication and disaster recovery methodologies and strategies for capacity planning, configurations and complete setups of database solutions. Install and configure grid infrastructures and databases. Maintain high availability database solutions using diagnostic and monitoring tools and methods including, Real Application Clusters (RAC), Exadata, Data Replication and Data Protection. Design, configure, test and document system enhancements, including hardware and software updates, performance reliability, and scalability of the network. Maintain and manage Oracle V.12c or above databases utilizing Oracle Exadata and Oracle Data Appliances to integrate software, networking and storage. Allocate physical and logical resources, connectivity, networks and topology services, lifecycles and business processes. Collaborate with technical operations on system design and configuration of the Service Delivery Platform. Develop and modify database programming code and gather new requirements for re-design. Utilize On-line transaction processing (OLTP) and On-line Analytical Processing (OLAP) for database development. Perform data mappings, data materialization and data mining. Oversee heterogeneous databases and operating systems, bidirectional replication such as Golden Gate without distance limitations, maintain transactional integrity, reliable data delivery and fast recovery after service interruption. Evaluate technical options, risks, and merits of Charter’s Service Delivery Platform when modifying and troubleshooting databases. Patch systems, deploy hot fixes, service releases, and major releases on planned maintenance cycles. Design, implement, monitor, enhance, and troubleshoot Charter’s Service Delivery Platform. Install software, configure, and evaluate technical options and risks during system troubleshooting. Perform monthly database memory tuning, table LOB segments, and index defragmentation. Rebuild index online without business impact, and identify problematic queries and fine tune to avoid impact on customer order processing. Perform root-cause analysis, and propose corrective action to avoid/eliminate similar issues. Collaborate with application developers and system administrators to plan and implement code and database changes. Perform log-based change data capture, distribution, transformation, and delivery. Monitor critical alerts, system availability, and resource consumption through Oracle tools such as Oracle Enterprise monitoring. Configure Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) monitoring tools, implement monitoring policies, establish data replication, and assist in developing disaster recovery strategies, to manage software deployment, operations, monitoring, diagnosing, and resolving problems. Collaborate with engineers and operations teams to find methods to improve database performance. Perform monthly database maintenance activities such as purging out-of-retention data, adding partitions for future growth. Analyze and revise existing database system logic difficulties and documentation as necessary. Test and review designs, functionality, and architecture for databases under development. Document test cases, change management processes, and develop technical documents for future reference. Review work plans and designs to provide recommendations for improvement. Identify downtime, monitor processes end-to-end, and follow deployment standards for multiple applications utilizing change request tools to ensure there is no end-user impact. Implement failover capabilities for all provisioning databases to reduce operational impact. Develop shell scripts to automate routine activities including, health checks, backups, and monitoring. Provide technical support and guidance to other engineers and ensure all technical integration, changes, standards and documentation are met.


Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field. 8 years of experience: maintaining and managing Oracle V.12c or above databases utilizing Oracle Exadata and Oracle Data Appliances to integrate software, networking and storage; utilizing Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) to manage software deployment, operations, monitoring, diagnosing, and resolving problems; and performing data mapping, data materialization, and data mining. National travel 3 times per year for 3-4 days per trip. Must be available for 24/7 on-call rotation.
