The Electrical Engineer RS4 position will have the following job duties:
-Lead all connector testing (qualification and acceptance).
-Design bussing connectors.
-Define test requirements for connector qualification and acceptance testing.
-Work with customer on issues found and answer questions.
-Provide solutions to defects when needed by the factory and launch site issues relating to Connectors, Wire, Splices, Contacts, Lugs, Braid, Back shells, Tapes, Potting compounds, Heat shrink tubbing, Labels, Snake skin, and other items.
-Assist factory with defining manufacturing processes.
-Support Launch Vehicle Anomaly Resolution.
-Take failures to Anomaly Review Board.
-Close out Problem Reports and Non Conformances.
-Generate Test Design Documents.
-Review test data.

Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.

External Additional Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related field.
  • 6-10 years of related work experience
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, failure modes, design, environment responses, etc. of the following types of connectors: D38999, MS3470, Lanyard Separation, Rack and Panel, Cryogenic, etc.
  • Knowledge of connector qualification and acceptance programs.
  • Knowledge of harnessing including manufacturing, failure modes, design, environment responses, etc.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, failure modes, design, environment responses, etc. of electrical assemblies which include connectors, fuses, transorbs, diodes, and resistors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications.
  • Available to work launch and issues outside of business hours.
  • Available to travel
  • Must have a valid driver’s license

  • Knowledge of ULA processes / Material Review Boards / PIRs.

Functional Job Description

Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is typical of most office environments with telephones, personal interruptions, and background noises.

Mental Functions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate verbally and in writing and use interpersonal skills. The employee is regularly required to prioritize, multitask, analyze, interpret, coordinate, compile, evaluate, synthesize, compute, problem solve, concentrate, and think critically. The employee is occasionally required to copy, instruct, and negotiate.

Judgment and Decision-Making: Work is regularly assigned by self, supervisor, and departmental staff. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to exercise prudent judgment, decision making, and analytical skills to determine manner and operational steps necessary to properly handle inquiries and perform daily tasks within professional standards. Decision making is guided by ULA policies and procedures.
