The Gastrointestinal(GI) Medical Oncology Program at the University of Colorado School of Medicineand the University of Colorado Cancer Center (UCCC) seeks candidates for aposition on the tenure track.
The successful applicantwill have experience in the field of gastrointestinal malignancies with a focuson new roles for innate and adaptive immunity, inflammation, and thedevelopment of novel targeted approaches for gastrointestinal cancers. Areas ofinterest include basic and/or translational topics for the treatment of gastrointestinal cancers.

Faculty applicants at the senior level (Associate or Full Professor) shouldhave a track recordof research funding.Appointees will be expected to establish and maintain strong extramurally funded researchprograms and participate in teaching of graduate and medical students.The research faculty positionis housed at the AnschutzMedical Campus in the greater Denver area. Facultyappointees will receiveexcellent start-up supportand will work in a collaborative environment with state-of-the-art core facilities,animal facilitiesincluding flow cytometry, mass cytometry, genomics, proteomics, imaging, and BSL3.
NATURE OF WORK
Thisis a tenure-eligible faculty position withinthe University of ColoradoCancer Center at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. The primary appointment will be at any level in the Department of Medicine, Divisionof Medical Oncology(subject to changedepending on research interests and/ortraining if applicable).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities includebuilding and maintaining an independent research program in basic and/ortranslational studies of immunotherapy, training of graduate students and post-doctoral investigators, as well as to develop interactions with investigatorswithin the research environment in the Anschutz Medical Campus at theUniversity of Colorado. In particular, the candidate should demonstratethe vision and potential or ability to interact with basic scientists and cliniciansto foster translational research programs. We are looking for candidates with akeen interest in building interdisciplinary programs through interactionsacross the many basic and clinical departments within the School of Medicine atthe University of Colorado. Key selection criteria will be research excellenceand originality of science. Applicants must have an M.D., Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D.,or equivalent degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications inresearch.

The ideal candidate should have an exceptional record ofresearch achievement demonstrating a trajectory for success in academicmedicine.
Some flexibility inworking schedule may be necessary for this position, but no ‘on-call' or shiftwork is required.
The individual holdingthis position will report direction to the GI Cancer Director and the DivisionHead of Medical Oncology.
The person holding this position will develop and direct an independent,externally funded research program. This individual will be responsible for the daily management, supervision, training and evaluation of personnel (such asgraduate students, postdoctoral fellows and professionalresearch assistants) whose positions are funded by research grantson which s/he is the principalinvestigator.

This position requires a PhD and/or MD degree or comparable doctoral degree in the biomedical sciences with experience within the field of GI cancer research and/or cancer immunology research. Experience in cancer research, molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry and/or a closely related field is essential.
Priority will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience investigating human GI cancers. The applicant must be highly motivated, have good interpersonal skills, and have
experience in supervising or training of research personnel.
