The Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism & Diabetes in the School of Medicine on the Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking a full-time Professional Research Assistant to maintain and conductanimal studies and husbandry, perform invitro assays of various directions and cell lines, run and maintainspecialized instrumentation, maintain records of collected data and analysis,and present data and other relevant information in laboratory meetings.
Examples of WorkPerformed
The PRA will work with animal models. He/she will perform animal survival andnon-survival surgeries, collect tissues and samples from animals for vascularfunction and mitochondrial measurements; process tissues for protein isolationor immunohistochemistry; conduct Western blot, and ELISA assays; conduct cellculture studies; conduct and help with reactive oxygen species measurement;conduct microscopy as necessary. The applicant will be involved in experimentaldesign and data analysis. Additionally, the applicant will be expected to workas part of a team and manage responsibilities accordingly.

MinimumQualifications: BA/BS degree in Science.
PreferredQualifications: 1-2 years of laboratory experience. Experience inhandling animals and performing both in vivo and in vitro studies.
Knowledge, Skills,and Abilities
Experience performing experiments with mice and rats ispreferred, as well as knowledge of basic anatomy, cell culture, and laboratorytechniques.
