Fleet Technician / Mechanic
at Weld County Government
Candidate will possess personal knowledge and skills to perform preventative maintenance that produces safe, reliable and cost effective vehicles for Weld County, Colorado. Candidate will properly diagnose and perform necessary repairs to diesel, alternative powered and gas engines, transmissions, drivetrains, steering and suspension, hydraulic and air brake systems, HVAC and electrical systems. An attractive pay and benefits package is offered. Uniforms are provided.
Report to work on a regular and timely basis and complete the scheduled workday on a consistent basis.
Full time: 8-10 hours per day, 4-5 days per 7-day week with ability to work varying shifts, additional hours and/or overtime depending on service needs.

- Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Operate a standard transmission vehicle.
Operate power and pneumatic tools.
Required to wear personal protective equipment.
Must meet all requirements to be Power Industrial Truck Operations (PITO) certified.
Work in an environment with: variable temperatures and humidity (climatic conditions), exposure to cleaning materials, petroleum products, dust, dirt, and noise, outside inclement weather.
Although working independently, work cooperatively in a diverse work environment.
Have a sufficient ability to communicate, through sight, hearing, and/or otherwise, to perform assigned tasks and maintain proper job safety conditions.
• High School Diploma or GED.
•Minimum of five (5) years of current documented equipment mechanic experience.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
•Proficient using diagnostic equipment, scan tools and personal computer.
•Possess a full compliment of personal hand tools.
•Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) or ability to obtain Class A CDL [90 days].
• Meet D.O.T. physical requirements and be CDL qualified as required by job assignment.
•Must have a basic familiarity with and experience working with a variety of automotive, light and heavy vehicles.
•Must be proficient as determined by the department in the operation of a motor grader and have a good working knowledge of a wide variety of heavy equipment.
• Valid Colorado Class A CDL license required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee frequently is required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; Bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb ladders and stairs; stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. and turn/pivot frequently throughout the duration of the workday.
Lift, lower, push, pull, leverage and manipulate equipment and/or packages weighing up to 70 pounds (with or without accommodation).
Assist in moving packages or equipment up to 150 pounds with accommodation.
Simple hand grasping, power hand grasping, fine hand manipulation, reaching from foot level to above shoulder level.
Sitting required infrequently throughout the duration of the workday.
